Delete your account
This page is for the We Crossed Paths website and its Android and iOS apps (published by Timon De Cock). Your account and data are looked after by Yoran Scholiers, in Belgium. Here you can delete your account and everything in it, with or without the app.
In the app
Log in, then go to Me → Your data → Delete my account and enter your password. Your account is deleted straight away. Want to keep your map? Download your data first, on the same screen.
Without the app, or without your password
Enter the email address you signed up with. We'll email you a link; open it and confirm, and your account is deleted.
The link works once, for an hour. Nothing is deleted until you confirm. No email after a few minutes? Check your spam folder, or write to [email protected] from that address.
What is deleted
Straight away, for good:
- Your account: your email address and password.
- Your profile: your name, city, photo and social media handles.
- Your map: everyone on it, with their photos, notes and where you met.
- Your links: everyone you were linked with keeps their own entry for you, without what you shared.
- Your logins and connected apps, your open invites and link codes, and feedback you sent with your name.
What is kept, and for how long
- Backups of the database: the nightly ones are kept 14 days, the ones made before an upgrade 30 days. Your data is gone from them after that. They're only used to recover from a failure.
- Reports you made about someone, without your name, so they can still be dealt with.
- Anonymous feedback, the server's technical log (which never holds who you are, deleted after about two weeks) and visit statistics (which never hold your name or email).
Someone who invited you sees, in their list of invites, that their invite was used; your email address is no longer shown there once your account is gone.
Deleting only some of your data
You don't have to delete your account for that. In the app:
- Someone on your map: open them, then Remove from my map. Their photo and note go too.
- A photo: edit the person (or your profile, under Me) and tap Remove photo.
- Your profile: under Me → Your profile, clear your city or handles, and choose per person what you share.
- A link: open the person and tap Unlink.
- A connected app: under Me → Connected apps.
Anything else, or a question: [email protected]. More about your data in the privacy note.
